The Carteret County Sportfishing Association (CCSA) is made up of volunteers who are drawn together by the love of saltwater fishing, and the Crystal Coast.  But more than that, we are individuals looking for ways to put more back into the resources, than we take out.

The Carteret County Sportfishing Association is dedicated to educating our members about Carteret County, North Carolina.  The Beautiful Crystal Coast is teaming with wildlife.  Our underwater world is immense, providing fabulous inshore and offshore fishing.

Our association focuses on informing its members of the tremendous opportunity to utilize our natural resources.

We are also an active force in the creation and maintenance of natural and artificial reefs.   Through the Atlantic Beach KMT, the CCSA has donated over $230,800.00 toward the $2,300,000.00 that has been spent on the North Carolina Artificial Reef Program.

Our club has over 150 members.  We hold monthly board and member meetings, periodically update our website, and supply a newsletter to our members on a regular basis.  But most important, we spend most of our free time helping each of our members to catch more FISH.

Our association also funds two (2) scholarships for Carteret Community College. Each scholarship is for One Thousand Dollar ($1,000.00 a year, and is administrated by the College to our specifications. Which are; the students must be from Carteret County.  They must be enrolled in a Marine related program, and they must be in need of assistance.

Our association also funds a Surf Fishing program put on by the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.  We have agreed to a new two (2) year commitment 2004/5 to buy the supplies used for this program at a cost of Twelve Hundred Dollars ($1,200.00) a year.

Our association having been in on the founding of Take A Kid Fishing, has given from its inception man hours in the working on the boats and the pier with the children, and donating approximately Two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) a year, to its support.

We currently do not hold the Dale Ward Shootout trophy.  This is a competition between the Carteret County Sportfishing Assn., the Raleigh Saltwater Fishing Club, and the Eastern Carolina Fishing Club.  The Shootout was originally set up, where each club contributed to a scholarship fund in Dale Wards' name.  Now each club has established their own scholarship funds.  It is a day of fishing and fun, especially when your club wins!
